Dear students,
As we begin a new semester together, I encourage you to carry this thought with you—a quote often attributed to Dr. Seuss:
“To the world, you may be one person, but to one person, you may be the world.”
This is so true of each of you. Every day, I am inspired by how our students and graduates shape lives, strengthen communities, and make our world ever better.
You’ve each arrived here from different paths—some of you are working professionals, others starting new career trajectories, and some continuing straight from undergrad. Whether your future is in PK-12 school, counseling, higher education, or healthcare, you’re here to learn how to lead change—in classrooms, clinics, and communities.
No matter where you’ve come from or where you’re headed, you all share one thing in common: a commitment to transforming the lives of everyone in our communities and helping others see the world through new lenses.
This semester, I hope you remember the countless lives you’ll touch. You may never fully see your impact, but to someone, you will be that person who listens, supports, and makes a meaningful difference.
Here’s to the new semester, and the power you hold to change lives—one person at a time.
Meliora,
Melissa Sturge-Apple, PhD
