Career Counseling and Development

Provides an overview of the career counseling and development field, including career development theories and decision-making models; career development program planning, organization, and services; career education practices; career counseling materials, processes, and techniques; and computer-assisted career guidance systems. This includes the use of artificial intelligence (large language models) as an aid for trait-and-factor matching, the analysis of career narratives with theories of career development, and in the construction and presentation of interventions that promote career advancement. The impact of artificial intelligence and other technological change on career development will also be discussed. In addition to satisfying requirements for several master’s degree programs in counseling and other related fields, this course may count toward the Advanced Certificate in Artificial Intelligence for Education and the Helping Professions.
