Overview
In 2025, the ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ and The Strong National Museum of Play launched a formal, innovative partnership to explore the transformative power of play and games. By combining The Strong’s world-renowned collections and expertise with the ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµâ€™s academic strengths, the collaboration creates new opportunities for research, education, and community engagement. The University’s Warner School plays a key role in this partnership through its Center for Professional Development and Education Reform.
Through this partnership, faculty, staff, and students from across the university engage in joint research initiatives, conferences, and exhibits that delve into the cultural, historical, and societal impact of play. The collaboration also supports the development of new educational programs—including courses, workshops, and field trips, and experiential learning opportunities—enriching the academic experience while strengthening community connections.
The Strong provides ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ classes with access to its unique collections and collaborates with faculty on conference presentations and public programming. Together, the institutions are positioning Rochester as a global hub for play and game studies, attracting scholars, industry leaders, and enthusiasts while fostering creativity, innovation, and regional economic growth.
