As Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) tools have become increasingly accessible to students and educators across various educational institutions and contexts, educators in all subfields and professions must grapple with the multiple and potentially transformative implications of this new technology. The new Advanced Certificate in Artificial Intelligence for Educators was developed to empower education professionals to become critical users of AI in their jobs and to promote AI literacy, as well as appropriate and effective use of AI in their field.
As such, this credential will enable you to not only better leverage AI in your practice, but also to take a leadership role in your organization around AI applications.
Key Program Features
- Combining Theory and Practice: Includes both coursework and a capstone practical experience.
- Rich Experiences as AI Users: Students engage in innovative uses of AI as both learners and creators, to personally experience its power and limitations.
- Flexible: The program is designed to be customized to address applications and implications of AI for your field, and to leverage courses taken in prior or concurrent programs.
- Fully Online Option: If desired, all required and elective courses in this program can be taken fully online (meeting weekly in synchronous online sessions).
Prerequisites
- There are no prerequisites, except for having a bachelor’s degree.
10 credits (or fewer, depending on potentially transferable courses), including a capstone experience; for any professional working within the field of education or human development who wants to learn how to best leverage AI in their practice and field; can be pursued as a stand-alone program OR concurrently with another Warner program.
This advanced certificate program does not lead to licensure or prepare students for the practice of any profession in NYS. It is designed to give education professionals additional insight and tools to promote more effective, safe and ethical uses of AI. Combined Master's Program
If you are interested in a master's-level credential, you can pursue our customizable MS in Online Teaching, MS in Teaching & Curriculum, or concurrently with the Advanced Certificate in Digitally-Rich Teaching for only 31-34 credits. Each of these master’s programs includes multiple electives that could be used to meet this Advanced Certificate requirements (with the exception of the one-credit Capstone experience).
Customizable Doctoral Programs
If you are interested in a doctoral program focusing on AI applications and implications for education, you can customize our flexible EdD and PhD programs in Teaching & Curriculum and Higher Education, or EdD in , to do so. Adding this Advanced Certificate to any of these programs may require as little as one additional credit, if you strategically choose specialization courses and electives to meet the Advanced Certificate requirements (with the exception of the one-credit Capstone experience).
